So, I am not a lathe guy but...

I was on a lathe today trying to tweak in the G112 contour part I programmed using MasterCam and XY plotting..

So, I needed to plunge out some radii on this contour and tried to use a G81. Well, it looked something like this..

X.38C0.
G81R.1Z-.26F6.
C30.
C90.
G80Z.1

Well being that this was on a Haas Machine, I graphed it out and it would read the whole program and get to the X.38C0. run the G81 canned cycle but would alarm out at the C30. line.

The G-Code lathe guy is on vacation and the other Lathe guy only knows Mazatrol. So I ended up doing it long hand like this...

X.38C0.
G1Z-.26F6.
G0Z.1

C30.
G1Z-.26F6.
G0Z.1

etc. etc.

The long hand code worked fine.

I guess I am wondering, will Drilling Canned Cycle not work with "C". Like I said, it would do the first position, but would alarm for the second.

Alarm was something like C Axis not engaged. But I had the "M" code to engage it right before and the spindle orientated to locate the first position.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thats interesting Mike, maybe when moving the C axis the machine treats it like a G00 or G01 and cancels the canned cycle but the alarm message does not treat it like that. Im guessing this is probably something in the parameters/settings. I will investigate this
