THREADING PROBLEM
«
on:
October 08, 2008, 02:36:16 PM »
Al right lets see if I can explain this.
I was wondering if there is a way to make the machine when threading to come to the end of the thread and stop (not meaning stop the machine) in the z and then retract in the x instead of leading out on the last thread I know this would make a sold line in the part but it is relived at the end so it doesn't mater.
the machine has a fanuc oi-tb
code is as follows
N300M01
G0T0000M8
(THREDING SECO INSERT 16ERAG60-A CP500)
(7/16-14 MAJOR .4361/4258 PITCH .3897/.385 MINOR .3511)
G97S200M3
X.4471Z.3T0000
G76P010060
G76X.3511Z-.995P480Q170F.07142
G28U0W0T0000
This was somebody else s idea
same kind problem just different part
N300M01
G0T0000M8
(THREADING SECO INSERT 16ERAG60-A CP500)
(3/4-10 MAJOR.7482/.7353 PITCH .6832/.6773 MINOR .6291)
G97S200M3
X.8Z.3T0000M24
G92X.7391Z-.749F
X.7191
X.7031
X.6891
X.6771
X.6651
X.6531
X.6431
X.6351
X.6291
M23
G28U0W0T0000
Thank you for your input,
Kyle

Kyle,
Hello. I don't know the answer, but as before I could ask some people that are familiar with Lathe controls.
I would think depending on the control and machine, it might be possible long hand if you could match the feed and spindle timing.
I know on mills with a indexer you can make the feed and indexer move in sequence with each other. Also, I have worked with Swiss guys that have used macros to make twists in parts, having to sinc the spindle and feed together, not unlike a tapping cycle, but a long hand way.
Tapping cycles are basically canned cycles for what the machine is capable. On a mill you could create a tapping cycle long hand by sinc'ing the spindle and Z together and then reversing, canned cycles just make the function easier. I would say on a mill it would only be wise to do that with a floating tap holder though, just so you have some fudge factor.
I will let you know if I come up with anything.

Mike,
I was on cnc teck talk and cnczone and I think the general consensuses is that I will have to program long hand in G32 format. I'm waiting on matl. now but I will give it a try.

Kyle,
Yeah, in conversation at work today we really didn't come up with anything with canned cycle control. Would have to be long hand, a probably very possible if you have a "C" Axis, so you can program moves with two axis in the same line feeding.
Let me know if you get it to work.

So you want it like this come in tread and stop in X and pull out instead of leading out at an angle correct.
this is a box cut of what I think you want.
(OD THREAD RIGHT INSERT - NONE)
G28 U0. W0.
G50 X10. Z10.
G0 T0606
G97 S200 M03
G0 X1.948 Z.2
G99 G92 X1.5126 Z-1. E.2
X1.5026
G0 X1.948
G28 U0. W0. M05
T0600
M30
Long hand:
(OD THREAD RIGHT INSERT - NONE)
G28 U0. W0.
G50 X10. Z10.
G0 T0606
G97 S200 M03
G0 X1.948 Z.2028
X1.5126
G99 G32 Z-1. E.2
G0 X1.948
Z.2
X1.5026
G32 Z-1. E.2
G0 X1.948
Z.2
X1.5026
G32 Z-1. E.2
G0 X1.948
Z.2028
G28 U0. W0. M05
T0600
M30
Is this correct?

I know on the haas machine its in the settings where you can alter the retract angle.
